Brew: 1 tsp per 200ml; 100ºC; 2 minutes.

Lapsang Souchong is best in the morning, early afternoon or on those cold wintry days.

One heaping teaspoon per cup, boiling water, 2 minutes. I am so pumped. The tea has a perfect smoky scent. It's brilliant. The flavour is as strong as the scent implies. It is a bit harsh, but not enough to detract. The smokiness is real and perfectly done. Unsurprisingly, the cup smooths as it cools and becomes more mild. It's a much easier drink when warm rather than scalding. Even though I rarely get a successful second steep out of LS, I try a five-minute one anyway. No shock that it's milder, but it holds out very well. It has a nice sweet smokiness and is a great follow-up to the first cup. I would definitely resteep this again. This tea is certainly worth the expense, and even though Chah has a cheaper commercial one, I wouldn't brave it. For this kind of tea, I prefer to just pay more and get the best than settle for anything else. This is not a Lapsang Souchong for those who are unsure. This is one for those who know they enjoy it.
